Exmouth Beach and Sandy Bay

I’ve been working a lot lately, and last week it was pretty relentless – I didn’t get enough sleep, forgot to eat and had to miss choir practices. Albert still got his 3-4 walks per day (I have to walk him that often as I haven’t got a garden), but with the exception of our day out in Budleigh Salterton, he hasn’t had any long walks for a while. So on Friday, when I finally finished the big job I’d been working on, I took my little monkey straight to the beach so I could start making it up to him.

We have been to Exmouth Beach before, as the 2-mile long sandy beach is a paradise for dogs and their pet humans during the winter months. As the tide was out*, we decided to keep walking and rounded Orcombe Point to explore Sandy Bay. I have never actually been to Sandy Bay, although several years ago I walked the coastal path from Budleigh Salterton to Exmouth. The coastline has changed a lot since then – parts of the cliffs have falled down, taking sections of the path with them.

* Always check the tide before heading round Orcombe Point – you risk getting caught by the sea! I use the My Tide Times app to plan my walks. Don’t start your walk at low tide, though – you’ll have more time if you set out while the water is still receding.

So here’s another photo essay for you, this time with captions.
Albert and I really hope you will enjoy exploring Sandy Bay with us!
